COVID-19 VACCINE UPDATE:
The Covid-19 vaccine is now being rolled out across West Essex. Those who are most at risk from Covid-19 and the people that provide care to them are being prioritised first. Please do not contact us for your vaccine – wait to be called. In line with national guidance and to protect those who are the most at risk first, the vaccine is initially being offered in the community to people aged over 80. You will be contacted when it’s your turn for a vaccine. Even if you are fit and healthy, you are still at risk of getting Covid-19, being vaccinated can greatly reduce your risk of getting the virus so please do attend your appointment when called.
PILOTING ONLINE SYSTEM
We are currently piloting a new online advice and appointment system at the surgery. The aim is to offer patients an alternative way to request services and also to alleviate pressure on the telephones. Initially it has just been offered to a small group of patients whilst we learn how to manage incoming requests but we hope to offer it to all our patients in the very near future.
Surgery Update December 2020
We are aware there have been many stories in the news regarding surgeries not being open. We want you to know we are open and doing the best we can for our patients.
All of our GP appointments requests are being triaged first over the phone and if the GP feels that this cannot be dealt with over the phone they may offer a video consultation or a face to face appointment.
From Monday 15th June all patients aged over 2 years old visiting their GP Surgery are being asked to provide and wear their own face coverings at all times whilst inside the building. The face covering can be as simple as a scarf or bandana that ties behind your head. It should cover your mouth and nose while allowing you to breathe comfortably. If you do not have access to a face covering we can provide this at the surgery. Please visit https://mygp.me/2Nbzx1w Thank you.
Please note we have been notified by some patients that there is currently a scam going around asking for bank details etc for the covid vaccination. Do not respond in anyway if you get a message.
The latest guidance from the Government has changed.
If you have either:
- A raised temperature or fever and/ or
- A new continuous cough and/or
- Loss of sense of smell or taste
And you are so ill that you've stopped doing your usual daily activities
You must call 111 and speak to a nurse
(The phone will be very busy but you need to wait to speak to someone)
You need to stay away from other people until you have spoken to 111 (self-isolate)
To protect others DO NOT GO to a GP, pharmacy or hospital
There is more advice about self-isolation on the Government’s website:-
NHS 111 also has an interactive online coronavirus service that can tell you if you need medical help and advise you what you need to do.
GP SURGERIES CANNOT TEST FOR CORONAVIRUS OR REFER YOU TO A TESTING CENTRE. THE MOST UP-TO-DATE INFORMATION IS AVAILABLE FROM: nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/
We are pleased to announce that we now have two Registrars, a Physiotherapist, two Paramedic Practitioners and a Dietician working with us at the practice
We have a Physiotherapist who holds weekly clinics - please contact reception for an appointment.
Paramedic - Vicky Bryning - is working with us doing home visits.
Paramedic Practitioners - Abigail Merrell & David Binns are now working with the surgery doing home visits and supporting the doctors with frailty clinics
Due to new regulations, the dispensary will be closed at both surgeries between 1 - 2pm each day. On the dates of the Educational Shutdowns the dispensary will close at 12 noon.
We now operate a texting service, texts are sent to patients reminding them about their booked appointments - one week before and 24hours before their actual appointment. Patients will have the option to cancel the appointment if they no longer require it. We hope that this service will help to reduce our number of DNA appointments.
Please let us know if you have moved; have a new contact number or email address
We will now be reviewing all long term conditions in your birthday month. Please book an appointment to review your condition and medication in your birthday month.
If you supply us with a landline or mobile telephone number, we will, unless you advise us not to, use it to contact you. This could also include via a text message or voice message to you reminding you about appointments.
