The Rectory Practice and Borough Lane Surgery merged to form Crocus Medical Practice in June 2015, operating from two sites about 4 miles apart - The Old Rectory, 18 Castle Street, Saffron Walden, CB10 1BP and High Street, Great Chesterford, CB10 1PL.
We are confident that our website will provide clear and concise help to give to our patients. The website is designed to make it easy to gain instant access to information. Please explore this website to learn more about the practice and how we operate. It also includes links to enable you to communicate with the practice electronically. In particular we draw your attention to our tab 'About the practice' which can be accessed from the menu on the right hand side. You will also find a wealth of health-related information.

All practices are required to allocate a named accountable GP to all patients, including children. All patients of Crocus Medical Practice have been allocated a accountable GP however this does not prevent you from seeing any other GP at the practice. If you would like to know who your named GP is please ask when you next attend or speak to someone at the surgery.

GP WEEKEND AND EVENING SERVICE -
You can now see a GP, Nurse/Healthcare Assistant outside of the surgery opening hours.
The west Essex Evening and Weekend GP service, provided by HUC (Hertfordshire Urgent Care), offers additional, pre-booked appointments at convenient times to suit your needs.
These operate from six locations across Epping Forest, Harlow and Uttlesford and appointments are booked through your GP practice. It is not a ‘walk-in’ service and is for booked appointments only.
Evening and Weekend GP appointments are available seven days a week for all patients, during the following times:
- Weekdays between 18.00 – 22.00
- Saturdays and Sundays

- Market Square Medical Centre – Waltham Abbey
- Dunmow Community Centre – Great Dunmow
- Stansted Surgery - Stansted
- Hamilton Practice- Harlow
